Brentwood is Boomin’

If you haven’t been to Brentwood Mall lately, you may not even recognize the neighborhood.  High-rise residential towers seem to be going up over night.  As the number of residential units continue to climb, we are starting to see more services and amenities popping up as well.

At first, it was a great new Keg Restaurant and a huge impressive Costco, but now we are starting to see more small businesses following suit.  Recently, “Miki Sushi” restaurant was re-opened just west of Willingdon on Lougheed Highway after renovations and a brand new “Fatburger” restaurant was opened right next door.  “Morrey Nissan” simply moved locations to the south a couple of blocks and their brand new dealership is looking sharp.  I also noticed a new “People’s Drug Mart” opened on Dawson between Madison and Gilmore.  There is also of course, the new “Commerce at Citi Tower” offering commercial units including a new bank on the main floor.  The building was covered up during the latter part of construction and was revealed just recently.  (pictured above).

It is great to see Brentwood and Burnaby growing as a city.  We can expect to see more schools and unfortunately yes, more Starbucks opening soon as well.  There is at least one elementary school planned for just off Dawson and East of Beta and the Watercolors tower.

Be sure to check out and support these new businesses.  I for one have tried the Sushi at Miki and it was delicious.  Oh, and of course the mean milkshakes at fatburger:)
